A Special Welcome to The Homemade Haus! [and a coffee giveaway]

As I was setting up this blog, my husband and I had a discussion about why I'm doing this. We wanted to make sure this wasn't one of my (many) projects that starts off great but ends up half finished. Unfortunately, I have a bad habit of doing that. In order to prevent this blog from suffering the same fate, it was important to me to think through the "whys" - and I thought I'd share a few reasons in this inaugural post.

First, this is a creative outlet for me. For almost three years, I blogged at offbeat + inspired with my longtime friend, Tiffany. (She's still running that blog so make sure to stop by and say hi!.) With the arrival of my twin munchkins a few months ago, life drastically changed. It was time for me to venture off and create a new site that included some of the same things I had been posting (recipes, DIY projects, etc.) but that also reflected my current stage of life.

Blogging at offbeat + inspired was an incredible learning and growing experience. I learned photography, grew my cooking skills, expanded my recipe repertoire and was stretched personally as I shared pieces of my life. Even though my kids keep me super busy, I don't want to completely give up on blogging. I want to continue to grow creatively. And let's be honest, every once in a while I need a change of pace from changing diapers and feeding babies.

Secondly, I have been encouraged and inspired by others in the blogging community. Through comments, emails, reading other blogs, social media and sometimes even meeting long-distance blogging friends in person, I have learned a ton and have gotten to know amazing people. It may sound weird, but it's true. There are friends I may have only met once or maybe not even at all, but they have taught me a great deal both creatively and personally.

There are a myriad of other reasons why I wanted to do this, but I don't want to ramble on too much longer. I hope you find encouragement and inspiration from The Homemade Haus and I'm excited for what's in store!

And here's the part you've been waiting for! As a special thank you for visiting my new site, I'm giving away three months worth of coffee sponsored by FreshGround Roasting! As a new mom, I'm not sure I could live without this stuff and would love to share it with you!
